When you create an account, we collect:

- Display name (optional) — your chosen nom de plume for scenarios you publish
- Password — stored securely using industry-standard hashing
1.2 Story Data
As you use Lifspel, we store:
- Story sessions — your interactions, choices, and the narrative content generated
- Scenarios you create — characters, settings, and story elements you design
- Preferences — your chosen AI engine, pacing settings, and interface options
1.3 Usage Information
We automatically collect:
- Log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps
- Device information — operating system, screen size
- Performance data — error logs to help us improve the service
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the Lifspel experience
- Generate personalized story content using AI
- Save your progress and preferences
- Send important account and service notifications
- Respond to your questions and feedback
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our service
- Detect and prevent abuse or security issues
3. AI Processing
Lifspel uses AI services (currently OpenAI and Anthropic) to generate story content. When you play:
- Your inputs and story context are sent to AI providers to generate responses
- AI providers may process this data according to their own policies
- We do not use your story content to train AI models

4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- With AI providers — to generate story content (OpenAI, Anthropic)
- With service providers — who help us operate Lifspel (hosting, email)
- When required by law — to comply with legal obligations
- To protect rights — to enforce our terms or protect safety
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your account information is permanently deleted
- Your story sessions are permanently deleted
- Your scenarios are permanently deleted
- Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data through your account settings
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your scenarios (feature coming soon)
- Opt out of non-essential communications
